The Dudley Open2001

Many prizes were awarded for all sorts of outstanding achievements, including one for the best-dressed golfer. As usual this went to the champion of sartorial elegance, Mr D. Sparks. If this man remains on the international circuit for much longer, Jesper Parnevik's tailor had better watch out.

Does my bum look big in this?

Soon it was time to bid our fond farewells and wind up another amazingly successful tournament. A little bigger, a little more fun, but the usual combination of determined amateur skills and all-out professional commitment. We all look forward to Dudley Open 2002 with a great sense of anticipation and excitement. As usual, the Open Committee will be meeting between Christmas and New Year to decide on next year's venue, so keep watching this space! Any submissions to the Handicap Subcommittee, whose decisions are always final, should arrive no later than 30 November 2001.
STOP PRESS If there is sufficient interest, there are plans to stage the Dudley Open 2004 in foreign climes for the first time. So start saving your pennies….or should it be euros?!
STOP GO PRESS Fans of that tour stalwart, B. Jennings, should note that the Big Man followed in the steps of his hero Colin Montgomerie and failed to live up to earlier promise, finishing sixth equal. Another year of injustice when one of the greatest players currently on the circuit failed to win a major title. Perhaps 2002 will be his turn? William Hill already has him down at odds of 11-1 (subject to confirmation of handicap status).
