DUDLEY OPEN 2011

FRIDAY - PRESTWICK ST. NICHOLAS

Billed as "the 26th oldest golf club in the world", Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club is a traditional Scottish links golf course established in 1851 and occupying a prime position on the shores of the Firth of Clyde on Scotland's west coast.

The course and club are steeped in history - indeed one of its founder members was Old Tom Morris, who was based in Prestwick prior to returning east to St Andrews and his place in golfing legend.
The course is a traditional Scottish links with gorse, deep bunkers and a seemingly ever present wind which tests the skills of players of all abilities.

According to the club's website, "The sandy soil allows golf to be played here all year round as the heaviest rain drains away very speedily".
But on a wet and windy afternoon in June that's all too common in Scotland, that's not quite how we found it:
