The statistics for the Saturday course, the Roxburghe near Kelso, seem nothing out of the ordinary:

The course offers both stunning scenery and a hugely enjoyable golfing experience.It was designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 1997, with his distinct hallmark of deep challenging bunkers and large rolling greens.
The wide fairways of the course follow the natural contours of the landscape and, make full use of the many changes in levels.
The signature hole is "Viaduct", an elevated tee commanding superb views over the River Teviot that hugs the left of the fairway with an imposing viaduct running across the horizon. For a hole by hole guide click here
So this long course suited the big hitters, although a series of par threes tested short skills as well. The wind was rather blustery to start with, and the weather conditions changeable with intermittent showers for the whole round.
Scores were generally lower than on the first day, with the leader Maxwell tailing off to 23.
Sparks carded another very steady 29 points, with Jago just 2 behind him on 27 points.
Clark was off the boil compared with Friday, finishing with 20 points.
