DUDLEY OPEN 2011
Sunday - Rowallan Castle
Another tight finish, but a clear leader
There was a steady run of scores through the thirties from some
of the usual suspects, led by the characteristically understated
performance of Dr Golf on 40 Stableford points. Despite a weak
finish on Sunday, Steve Robertson lived up to his earlier promise
and carded a 42 to snatch 5th place. The two tournament veterans
Jennings and Harper tied on a very respectable 43. Norrie Smith
didn't quite match the brilliance of his first round on Day 1
but his steady showing on Sunday in difficult conditions swept
him into second place.
But with a comfortable lead of three, at 49 points, the gentle
giant Stuart Johnson showed everyone who was boss. A well deserved
victory and one that will obviously need to be carefully scrutinized
by the Handicap Committee before next year's competition.
