ROUND 2 SATURDAY - SOUTHERNESS GOLF CLUB So under a blaze of summer sun the intrepid players teed off on day two in a positive frame of mind, knowing that there was plenty of room to improve on the eclectic scores over three days. Unfortunately the leader soon wilted under the heat, suffering from the celebrations of the previous night as the other players stormed ahead. While Jago fell away a little, the Crieff posse started to gather some momentum, although a very solid mid-field started to build led by Smith on 29 with Jaco, Roberston and Harper snapping on his heels. The very top of the leader board was extremely tight, with Johnson carding yet another 34 points and Bates and Rooney also making a strong stance to eventually make it a three-way tie for first place. As
always, the eclectic scores started to produce some different and
very interesting results, with some players moving up and down, but
the actual scores converging closer together. While Monaghan understandably
brought up the rear after only playing one round rather than two,
the points spread between Wilson on 34 and Johnson on 42 was just
8 points for 14 players.
