We wrapped up the afternoon with the usual prize giving and the award of the Man and His Shaft, the highlight to a truly memorable 2003 tournament.

All contestants had been inspired by the venues and the competitive atmosphere, and had savoured the chance to relish some truly wonderful scenery in such an unspoilt part of the coast. For next year's competition we will be heading north, back into the bosom of our beloved Scotland. The scene is set for another nail-biting championship. The current champ Wilson will be carrying the extra burden of 4 shots deducted from his current handicap. This lays the field open to anyone….Perhaps Dr Golf's day will finally come…or will El Niño Maclean and Happy Gilmour Maxwell stage a comeback after sitting out in 2003? As the old sport cliché goes: "There's everything to play for".
See you in 2004!

Take plenty of grass to make sure you get out.
