At the end of a very hot and very tiring day, the overnight leader board was very close: Bridges on 45 points, ahead of Harper on 44, then Sparks on 43 and Clark on 42. So the overnight leader's shirt was worn by Bridges, who must have felt a sense of relief that prior commitments unfortunately prevented Clark from contesting on Sunday and improving on his strong performance in the first two rounds.

Simon Bridges, avid Arsenal and England supporter, wearer of the overnight shirt and eventual winner of the glass tankard for best total Stableford points score of 103 points.

A post-tournament recount showed that Bridges actually tied with Sparks for best total score over three rounds, but the Committee ruled he should retain the tankard on the basis of an impressive 40 points in a single round on Saturday afternoon.
