SUNSHINE! - and not only on Leith….

This year, for the first time in our 15-year history, we were graced by some glorious weather for the entire three days of the tournament. Fortunately for all the players, the challenges thrown at them by the three courses did not include the usual mix of rain, wind and cold. But unfamiliarity with difficult terrain, bouncy fairways, punishing rough and lightning-fast greens inevitably had their effect on the scores of some players.

Coupled with that, two competitors, Sparks and Monaghan, were only able to play in two rounds of the tournament, so their scoring was all the more impressive as a result. But would it be enough to prevent Monaghan from bringing up the rear again, or to get Sparks in a position to challenge the leaders? Would the "Crieff Posse" stage their usual charge at the title, or would the great white shark Smith show his mettle and see off the young pretenders?

And would Lady Luck yet again desert some of the regular challengers such as Jennings and Jago just when they needed her most?

Our Treasurer, Chairman, Secretary, President and long-suffering, multi-tasking, hands-on organiser Mr. B. Wilson had once again laid on three top courses whose superb reputations preceded them. With glorious weather for the entire weekend, fantastic settings and a prestigious trophy to win there was, as
we say every year, everything to play for…
