After a very enjoyable Friday night and then fortified by a very tasty cooked breakfast,
we got down to the serious business of Day 2 of the competition.
The Hunting course opened for play in 1989 and is a long golf course, carved through a dense pine forest.
Rhododendrons provide welcome seasonal colour, but its the pines that will punish the wayward shot.
As on the Priestman, the bunkering design is masterful.
Rain threatened at times, but never really spoilt the day, allowing some decent scoring to be done.
This time the indomitable Erdall rallied and left Monaghan trailing well behind,
while it was perhaps the length of the course that meant a whole batch of players were clustered about 23.
At the end of the day, no one managed to play to their handicap, so no scores of 38 points or higher.
Andrew Scott was the closest, finishing at the top of the leaderboard on 35 points, well clear of McClelland on 31.Round 2 Hunting

Smith 20A. Monaghan 13This left the overnight leaderboard incredibly tight towards the top, with 6 players positioned on a spread of 41-43 points.
Despite Scotts sterling efforts, the steady play from McClelland was rewarded with a score of 44 points,
with Jago snapping at his heels on 44 and three others just one point behind that.
Even the battle for the wooden spoon was starting to look a very close run affair!Overnight leaderboard Day 2

but this was quickly forgotten thanks to the liberal supply of free drink organised by Mr Rooney.
So a good time was had by all.
(Cheers John!)
